Hi there, my name’s Adam

I’m a pet and equine photographer based in Toogoolawah in the beautiful Brisbane Valley. I’m a former Australian Army combat engineer and I love horses and animals! I specialise in pet and equine photography because there's something amazing about capturing that special bond between an animal and a person that I can’t get enough of.

I'm passionate about animals and animal welfare and I conduct pro bono photoshoots for animal rescues across SE Qld to help those organisations by providing high quality images to tell their story.

In addition to photography, I run a small farm animal rescue with my partner and we are the carers and guardians of four horses (one off the track thoroughbred and three rescue horses), four goats, three roosters, two pigs, two cows and we’re a foster home for a farm animal rescue charity.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be in the photos?

No you don’t. Depending on the style of shoot you would like to do you may like to have a portrait session of your pet or horse only. This can create amazing photos that showcase their individual personalities. You may choose to do a lifestyle shoot in which case you’re encouraged to join in with the photos. If you’re unsure please contact me and we can discuss the best style of shoot for you!

What should I wear?

The golden rule is wear something that you feel comfortable in because if your clothes are making you feel uncomfortable then that will show in your photos. Avoid overly bright colours and shiny materials and if your photoshoot is with more than one person coordinate your style and colours.

Before you decide on your outfit put it on and get a friend or partner to take photos of you from all angles with your phone. This will make you feel confident that you’re selecting the best outfit for you.

Neutral and earthy colours are always a great look for something casual but if you want to dress bold and glamourous then go for it! Depending on the style of shoot you may like to do an outfit change which can make an amazing point of difference for your photos but we can discuss this before the day.

Hats can be worn but depending on the lighting conditions I may ask you to remove the hat if there’s a harsh shadow covering your face. Bear this in mind and it’s helpful to bring a hair brush and ties to the shoot for any touch ups if necessary.

Sunglasses can be worn but again, depending on the situation I may ask that you remove them as seeing a person’s eyes helps to show connection in photos.

It’s best to keep you mobile phone out pockets for the photoshoot as they can be very obvious and distracting.

I want to book but I think that I should lose weight first?

There’s absolutely no need to lose weight before a photoshoot and this is a stressor in your life that you don’t need. Your photos will look amazing just as you are and I take great care to make sure that you feel comfortable, relaxed and feeling yourself during the shoot.

How should I prepare my horse or pet for a photoshoot?

A well groomed horse or pet is essential for a photoshoot. If your horse/pet loves a bath now is a good time to give them one. Groom your horse/pet to remove any loose hair, brush their mane, forelock and tail and trim their tail slightly if it’s looking a bit untidy. A good quality coat shine product will make them look even better but it’s not essential.

Check their hooves and remove any mud or dirt and if you choose to do so apply hoof oil or show gloss. Decide on what tack you’re going to use and give it a clean. Some horses chew excessively with a bit in their mouth so consider a comfortable halter.
